I have always used Motorcraft filters on my car, simply because they are reasonable and easy to find.
    "comparable" may not cut it...

just because it fits does not make it comparable.

Motorcraft, Purulator and Royal Purple are the only ones that use a siicone anti- drainback valve.

This is CRITICAL on 3v engines.

It appears that the royal purple filter is as good...

    It is also $10 +

I am offering a group buy on FL 820's and FL1A's @ $2.50 each ( minimum of 12, multiples of twelve).

x2, There may be an arguement to be made if said filter has the anti- drainback valve. However, I can tell you it would require a call to Ford for prior approval which could delay repair time.

About the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act - Just like any law, it has interpretation. Ford can void a warranty if you get your oil changes done at Jiffy Lube and they underfill it, or their crappy filter fails, causing damage to the engine. The tapping in knocking in the 3v is, in our shop at least, almost always related to crappy oil filters. Just like paying the lube shop to perform a flush and they don't use the manufacturer's recommended technique for the service. I.e. fuel injector services. At Ford we tap into the fuel rail as opposed to just taking off a vacuum line or cramming the drip into the intake. Can't tell you how many time I had to explain to customers that Ford won't cover their check engine light because the lube shop didn't follow Ford's proceedure.

Make sure not to over fill your crank case with oil either. That's why it's better to have a dealer change your oil. They have highly trained oil changing guys that can count to 10.

Hey, most all of my lube guys here can count to 20... It only takes them 2 hours to get an oil change done too!!!
