    Yes, they are.

Unfortunately, the ignorant think they speak fluently on the subject they know least about.

Profile the owners of this breed if you must, although that is a dangerous walk as well.

Dustin @ dilusi has already spoken up here (drizzo81) he is the proud owner of a beautiful and VERY respectful "pit bull".

"Angel" is looked at as a "pitbull" .

She is actually a red nose, Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

On more than one occasion she has decided that she is a dainty 50lb lap dog.

Ignorance has certainly shown its ugly side in this thread.

I am embarrassed for some of you and your complete ignorance in this matter in regards to this "breed" .

Matt, Please know that I am keeping your neighbor in my prayers and praying for a serenity for the ignorant statements that were made in this thread.

I passed the info from FE_Rex and he is pursuing that avenue now.

He is worried that he could even lose his job with pending loss of work.

Bad situation but the shining light here is that he was not more severely injured and of course the best thing is that his 11 YO son wasn't the one that walked out the door yesterday afternoon. I believe it was a matter time before these dogs attacked someone.

These 3 dogs act the way they do in this case because they are treated poorly and not given any training or love they need.

It does suck that my friend has a longer road to recovery from this than the motorcycle crash on Westgreen just 3 and a half moths ago. The same Constable that responded to his crash was the responding officer yesterday.

Ill be taking the TEXAS BAR in February, cant wait. I'll be able to make a living off the weird and sometime sad stuff the awesome ppl (I mean that genuinely) of the site get into and know about.

As for friendly advise, he needs to contact an attorney. Plenty of them out there that will assist, if there is anything to be gained. More than likely, can't get blood from a turnip...'

    Nope.

    Spuds is this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Terrier

Once again, wrong breed. Look HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staffordshire_Bull_Terrier

This is what I think a LOT of people consider a "pit bull".

This is also what ANGEL is...

It really goes back to the owner, not the breed.

    AJ, not fair.

It is NOT the breed, it is the irresponsibility of the owner.

Guys I have met many of pit bulls, but I look at them no different than any large breed dog I don't know, with caution. 99% of the time it's how a dog was raised and 1% are just crazy similar to how their crazy people.

If a dog is raised right and around all sorts of people, both young and old it will be a great dog. Then some want a dog as a weapon, and get cocky thinking they can control then and something like this happens.

Get a Dog Lawyer and get expenses covered and sue for damages to self.

Fizzy a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a pit bull per say. I understand what you are saying, but they are the same breedline. The Pit Bull naming is a result of American renaming.

You're correct, my mistake. That wasn't the message I was trying to get across. My brother and I had Pits back in the early 80's long before they were as popular as they are now. Very good dogs, but as I mentioned above the owner wasn't present in both cases I stated above. These dogs need constant supervision and in the wrong hands, disastrous results can occur given the nature of the breed. It's too bad they often end up with irresponsible owners and/or the capability of the breed is overlooked.

Statistics aside, these dogs were surrendered to Animal Control this morning at 8:00 AM. Owner not happy and reluctantly surrendered them. I am glad they are gone to quarantine till the findings are released.
I hate to see animals put down but if these dogs had been properly raised (only by what I have seen and heard of these myself) they may not have had any issues ever.

Some people are just not meant for the quiet and ever watched suburbs.
