Wonder if they will ban them for watching The Fast and the Furious also.

Their NHRA licenses were suspended for participating not watching.

Just like how watching "Friday" won't get a NFL player suspended but rolling up a fatty and taking a hit will.

NHRA doing this is no different than if Westside were to ban a member or members that were doing illegal activities in their vehicles with WSM stickers on them.
Like the ass-wipe that did the burnout and got arrested at TX2K or any members that do street racing or burnouts near or at our club meets ruining it for future events or others safety nearby.
So I can't run a WSM sticker? Got it.

NHRA threatens cast of Street Outlaws

FYI, it is illegal in Texas to participate in any way with Racing on a Highway. Leaves the door open for charging spectators. When I interned at the DA's office in law school I never saw this charge come across my desk but I did see lots of Racing on Highway charges.

NHRA should have handled this differently. They are getting their butts kicked on TV by a bunch of street racers. TV and on Facebook. Murder Nova has like 1.2 million likes on FB and NHRA has like 899,000. They should have bought advertising time during the show, or offered to allow the use of the track and safety crews for weekly filming. This would be more in line with what the NHRA was started for. It says itself in the letter that Wally Parks founded the NHRA to get street racers off the street, well reinforce that idea by offering up the track, or hell even one of the return pit roads for a "street like" surface for the show to film on. Instead they say, hey we see you are street racing, we're going to take away your ability to do it safely on the race track by taking your licenses that we charged you $250 to get in the first place.

I mean for the show to be going on 5 seasons now, anyone who still thinks they are actually racing on a street that is not blocked off with lots of lights and a safety crew must be dillusional. No way in hell could they knock out that many races with cars as fast as they have on a public non-blocked off road.

NHRA threatens cast of Street Outlaws

Mike Murillo said in his statement in Dragazine NHRA has right idea but wrong way of going about it.
The real issue is the claim of illegal street racing(even though it's all fake)
It's what some idiot is going to go and do after watching it.
Especially seeing NHRA stickers numbered competition vehicles on the show.

They need to just come clean that its sanctioned closed road racing before every show as a disclaimer to curb the issue.

There is plenty of No-prep racing at Thunder Valley already so they can run their ladder on a no-prep all they want there.

Any way you look at it free advertising for all of them thanks to this

It's all dumb. The amount of cars running out on these "streets" would have police flocking there like flies to shit if it were really happening on a public open street. There is no way this TV show would have lasted without Discovery getting permits for filming and closing streets off.
