    Need a Ranger for a work truck

    whats the best yrs for a ranger? good on gas and easy to work on, i'm a tech at a dealership so i can fix everything there and of course i want it 96+ for obd 2. Wanna spend about -1500. Thanks WSM..

    any year really. just steer clear of any with a 3.0 v6. (they suck,break,overheat,etc.)

    2.3L or 2.5L is the way to go, in my opinion.

    I had a 4.0 v6 loved it lasted over 250k with manual trans

    you want at least a 1995. in 1998 they went from the dual I-beams front control arm setup to dual independent A-arm front suspension. That in an auto with a 4.0 is a good truck or the manual with anything but the 3.0 as stated before.

    Don't forget the Mazda version as its the same truck except some badging and body panels.
